| NFA Provides FM Leadership, Support Patients suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome count on the leadership of the venerable CFIDS Association of America. But where can FM patients turn for similar benefits? The answer is the National Fibromyalgia Association - or NFA. Founded in 1997 by FM patient Lynne Matallana, the NFA exists to support those who suffer from Fibromyalgia. Lynne's own devastating experience with the disease included consultations with 37 doctors before she finally received a Fibromyalgia diagnosis. After being bed-bound for years, she finally recovered enough to begin using her well-honed business, advertising, and management skills to help other sufferers. The result is the NFA - a wonderful organization that provides FM patients with information, awareness, and advocacy. Has she done a good job? You bet she has! You really need to join the NFA if you have Fibro. It is the largest non-profit FM organization in the United States, and it provides members with a beautifully produced magazine covering all aspects of Fibromyalgia - treatment protocols, patient interviews, research highlights, and tips and information on how to deal with the disease. All that for a tax deductible donation of $35. Patients need to stick together. Our national FM organization needs our support and we need theirs. So if you aren't already a member, please join the NFA at their Web site, www.fmaware.org. I think it is the best investment any Fibro patient can make. Sincerely, Rich Carson ProHealth founder and CFS patient PS: Check out two products that I take myself, as featured in this newsletter. Fibronol helps me sleep, and NT Factor gives me more energy. |

On the Phone... Out to Lunch If you have had the satisfaction of hearing that laugh at the other end of the phone or seeing a friend's eyes light up with a warm smile when they see you, you most likely know what it's like to reach out and share yourself. Those of us with chronic pain also know that laugh and smile. We have a common bond: pain and understanding. We know about each other, we understand each other, and we care for one another. Working with others who have chronic pain must become a priority in our lives. Whether we pick up the phone or meet for lunch, we are reaching out to others and sharing our common bond. From this we will see how our experience can help others and how they in turn can help us. From Living With Chronic Pain One Day At A Time, by Mark Allen Zabawa |
