Tip of the Day

December 30, 2006

Can what you eat cause, cure, or affect fibromyalgia (FM)? Since symptoms of FM can vary from day to day, it's natural to think that what you ate yesterday may have caused or reduced the pain you feel today. Research has not yet conclusively proven that any specific foods affect FM, positively or negatively. But we do know for a fact that eating a good, balanced diet helps everyone's body function at its best. Following a balanced diet can help you feel better and can be a positive step toward successfully managing your FM. To adopt a healthier diet, concentrate on: -Reducing salt, fat, cholesterol, sugar, and alcohol
-Adding or emphasizing variety, fiber, fruits and vegetables, calcium, and water. (Source: Your Personal Guide to Living Well with Fibromyalgia, an official publication of the Arthritis Foundation.)
