Abstract: Pain induced by low-grade stress in patients with fibromyalgia and chronic shoulder/neck pain, relation to surface electromyography
The mechanisms of pain causation in fibromyalgia (FMS) and chronic shoulder/neck pain (SNP) are still debated. The researchers in this study wanted to compare muscle activity and pain development during and after low-grade mental stress in FMS and SNP patients. |

Abstract: An attempt at distinguishing subgroups of women with anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa by means of the Defense Mechanism Technique modified (DMTm) and the Eating Disorder Inventory (EDI)
In an attempt to identify diagnostically meaningful subgroups in a group of sixty women 18-34 years of age, 19 of them having a DSM-IV diagnosis of anorexia nervosa and 41 of bulimia nervosa, a hierarchical cluster analysis was performed on their data obtained from the Defense Mechanism Technique modified (DMTm) and the Eating Disorder Inventory (EDI). |

Abstract: Women with fibromyalgia walk with an altered muscle synergy
Most individuals can use different movement and muscle recruitment patterns to perform a stated task but often only one pattern is selected which optimizes an unknown global objective given the individual's neuromusculoskeletal characteristics. |

Abstract: Muscle hypertrophy, strength development, and serum hormones during strength training in elderly women with fibromyalgia
Objective: To examine the effects of strength training on maximal force, cross-sectional area (CSA), and electromyographic (EMG) activity of muscles and serum hormone concentrations in elderly females with fibromyalgia (FM). |

Abstract: Pharmacologic treatment of fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is a syndrome of widespread pain, nonrestorative sleep, disturbed mood, and fatigue. Optimal treatment involves a multidisciplinary approach with a team of health care providers using pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic treatment. |

Abstract: Isometric exercise has opposite effects on central pain mechanisms in fibromyalgia patients compared to normal controls
Aerobic exercise has been shown to activate endogenous opioid and adrenergic systems and attenuate experimental pain in normal control subjects (NC). In contrast, fibromyalgia (FM) subjects' experimental pain ratings increase after aerobic exercise, suggestive of abnormal pain modulation. |

Abstract: Abnormalities of Cardiovascular Neural Control and Reduced Orthostatic Tolerance in Patients with Primary Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia (FM) is a syndrome characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain. Symptoms of orthostatic intolerance may also be present, suggesting underlying abnormalities of cardiovascular neural regulation. |
